摘要:The project described in this paper aimed to replace certain school sanctions, mainly temporary expulsions, by carrying out work "at the service of the community", through the Learning-Service methodology (SL). It was applied in an educational center of Secondary Education at Malaga, throughout the year 2016/17, with seven students. In the evaluation, which included quantitative and qualitative aspects, all the agents involved directly participated (students subject of the program and professionals who have contributed to its direct application), as well as the families and other teachers of the participating students. In general, the seven participating students have avoided expulsion outside the center through their participation in the program. The results show a very positive impact (decrease of expulsions, reduction of negative consequences, collaboration of the educational community, and improvement of social skills and conflict resolution by students, counting on the mediating role of teachers). A strategy based on prevention and mediation can contribute, as the results of this project have shown, to stop focusing attention on the application of disciplinary and sanctioning measures. The conclusions of the project invite to think that the experience, with the necessary adaptations, can be transferred to other Secondary Education centers. If the intervention is to be effective and sustainable over time, the participation and dialogue of every educational agent must be key.
