摘要:In this paper we reflect on experiences of delivering a database design module at Sheffield University and discuss some of the issues and problems relating to teaching, learning and assessment in this area. In particular, the paper discusses the tensions that are experienced when delivering a module to a mixed group presenting a diversity of backgrounds, ranging from the technologically sophisticated to the ICT-naïve. This situation makes life difficult for those who facilitate learning, since they must walk the tightrope between superficiality and technological impenetrability.
