摘要:A six-phase AC motor is a conventional AC motor with two three-phase statorwinding sets. Depending on the phase displacement, this motor can be symmetrical orasymmetrical. This paper investigates the optimal phase displacement to minimize the inputcurrent ripple of PWM inverter that is used to supply the motor. Single and double carriersare used in the PWM. Based on the analysis results, it is found that the optimal phasedisplacement is 60º when single carrier PWM is used and zero phase displacement whendouble carrier is used. Experimental results on six-phase induction motors with phasedisplacement of 0º, 30º and 60º are included to show the validity of the proposed analysismethod.
