摘要:The study determined students’ knowledge of National Value as well as their levels of value self-efficacy inCivic Education among senior secondary school students. It also investigated the influence of value self-efficacyon students’ knowledge of National Value and finally examined the influence of gender and ethnicity onstudents’ knowledge of National Value in Civic Education. The study adopted survey research design. Seniorsecondary school students constituted the population for the study. Six hundred and two (602) students weresampled using simple random sampling technique. Two instruments were used for the study. These includeValue Self-Efficacy Scale (VSES) and National Values Orientation Test (NVOT). The instruments weredeveloped by the investigator and validated before use. Two research questions were asked and answered, andthree hypotheses were tested and verified. The results showed among others that 92.5% of the students had highvalue self-efficacy and there was a significant influence of ethnicity on students’ knowledge of National Values(F=9.391, p<0.05). The study concluded that students’ knowledge of National Value is low whereas their valueself-efficacy is considerably high.
