  • 摘要:This paper presents the analysis of data obtained using nanoindentation mapping of a canine bone section using a Berkovich tip. The experiments were carried out to investigate the mechanical properties of bone as an example of a natural inhomogeneous composite material. In order to obtain insight into the mechanical contributions of collagen and hydroxyapatite (HAp), the principal natural constituents of the bone tissue, specimens of natural and deimmunized bones were studied. The analysis of the indentation data returns estimates of Young's modulus and hardness at different locations within the bone structure. The observed variation of mechanical properties is discussed.
