标题:Microencapsulation of ginger-based essential oil (Zingiber cassumunar roxb) with chitosan and oil palm trunk waste fiber prepared by spray-drying method
摘要:In this research, microencapsulation of Zingiber cassumunar roxb essential oil (EO) with chitosan and waste oil-palm trunk waste fiber as a packaging materials were examined. Encapsulation process was done by spray drying method with ratio between oil palm trunk, chitosan, ginger essential oil denoted as OPT, Chi and EO, respectively namely 3:0:1, 0:3:1 and 2:2:1 were investigated. The material characterisations using FTIR, GC-MS, XRD, PSA and SEM. The results suggested that or ginger EO, the strong and sharp absorption peak at 1743 cm−1, the absorption peak at 1154 cm−1 and the absorption peak at 721 cm−1 were assigned to C O stretching vibration peak, C–O stretching vibration peak and the deformation vibration peak of ortho-substituted phenyl ring respectively. The ratio of OPT:Chi:EO of 3:0:1 shows significant decrease of quantity of terpinen-4-ol, which suggested that OPT matrix alone is not able to capsulate ginger EO. The XRD confirmed of OPT:Chi:EO (3:0:1) that the primary and secondary peaks are 19.8° and 9.6° correspond to the cellulose crystallography. The morphologies conformation of the microcapsules is influenced by the ginger EO content, which influences in the roughness surface of the microcapsules with particle size more than 15 μm.
