  • 标题:Új gombok a domoszlói andezit kabáthoz: avar malomkövek Hajdúnánásról = New results on the archaeological distribution of Domoszló andesite: Avar quernstones from Hajdúnánás (Hungary)

  • 摘要:The multi-period exploitation sites of Domoszló (Mátra Mountains, NE Hungary) produced grinding- and quernstones from the local andesite (basaltic andesite, pyroxene andesite) raw material (andesitic boulders, the shape of which made the production of the quernstones easy). Formerly we studied the traces of grinding- and quernstone production systematically by non-invasive documentation techniques, as well as the raw material itself, with petrographic and geochemical methods (polarization microscopy in thin section and ICP-OES, ICPMS as bulk rock chemical methods). The first distribution studies were carried out on archaeological finds from the collections of the Hungarian National Museum. The current work is focussing on the raw material of some quernstones and quernstone fragments from the Avar sites of Hajdúnánás, Mácsi-dűlő and Hajdúnánás, Fekete-halom, located cca. 100 kms east from Domoszló, on the other side of the river Tisza. This raw material is a pyroxene andesite, very similar to the Domoszló-types: the mineral composition and the texture is the same, and the bulk chemical composition fits well, too. For more secure identification of the raw material the mineral-chemistry of the orthopyroxene, clinopyroxene and plagioclase phenocrysts as well as the pyroxenes, feldspars and opaque minerals of the groundmass were studied with SEM-EDX. The mineral-chemical data shows many similarities with the Domoszló raw materials.
