摘要:The cultivation of Zea mays is a forage source with energy input, used in cattle feed for meat
and milk production in Latin American countries. When Z. mays is ensilated it contributes in
content of dry matter, soluble sugars, starch and buffer capacity, qualities that are used in
animals in programs of genetic improvement. The objective of the research was to evaluate
the in situ ruminal degradability, dry matter (DISMS), organic matter (DISMO) and inorganic
matter (DISMI) of the silage of four fodder maize hybrids (Pionner 30K73, Pionner 3041,
India S-810 e India S-505) in two harvest ages at 60 and 75 days. A completely randomized
block design was used. The silage of Indian corn S-505 at 75 days of harvest obtained the
highest percentages of degradability, in the DISMO at 6 hours of degradability, this was the
best treatment evaluated, while, for the other incubation periods no differences were
observed significant among treatments evaluated. In the DISMI at 3 hours of incubation the
T6 treatment obtained the highest percentages of ruminal degradability, and for 12 hours,
the treatments T7 and T8 showed the highest percentages, while, for the following
incubation periods no significant differences were observed between the treatments
evaluated.
