摘要:In this study, the corrosion inhibition properties of the Artemisia Abrotanum EssentialOil (AAEO) on mild steel surface in 1 M HCl solution has been investigated using GasChromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS), weight loss, Tafel polarization, LinearPolarization Resistance (LPR), Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) andScanning Electron Microscope (SEM) techniques. The effect of acid concentration andtemperature on the corrosion behaviour of mild steel in 1 M HCl with addition ofessential oilwas also studied. The obtained results indicated that AAEO has a goodinhibiting effect. The protection efficiency increases with increasing AAEOconcentration reaches up to 83.9 %. However, the inhibition efficiency of essential oilslightly decreases with the rise of temperature. Tafel polarization examination indicatedthat AAEO acts as a mixed type inhibitor with predominance anodic action. TheNyquist impedance plots presented a depressed capacitive loop at high-frequency rangefollowed by a well-defined inductive loop at low-frequency range. However, the Nyquistplots were analyzed by fitting the experimental data to an appropriate equivalent circuit. The adsorption of AAEO on mild steel surface obeyed to Langmuir isotherm model.SEM micrographs confirmed the existence of a protective adsorbed film on the mildsteel surface.
