摘要:This article presents a study based on Psycholinguistics, that examined the contribution of reading materials with a focus on linguistic awareness and the use of reading strategies (prediction, scanning, and detailed reading) for elementary school students. The research involved materials production, development of reading workshops and pre and post-test application. Fifty-nine students from the 9th grade of Elementary School from a public school in Porto Alegre participated in the study. The results indicated significant differences between the pre and post-test in the use and in the linguistic awareness in the use of reading strategies, proving the benefits of the reading material for elementary school students and recommending in the school environment the use of materials with similar characteristics developed in this study..
