摘要：O texto artístico-literário de Húmus, de Raul Germano Brandão, é tratadosob o ponto de vista filosófico, expondo a problemática existencial e o intertextofilosófico que permeiam o romance. Destacam-se as concepções que definem acondição humana representada na obra, assinalando-se a importância de umpensamento filosófico na afirmação de valores, através de um discurso conceitual quecoloca em risco a arte de narrar, pelo menos no sentido tradicional. Vários autores davertente existencialista são evocados para compreender uma tendência filosófica degrande impacto na praxis literária do século XX.
