摘要:This paper addresses design improvement and performance analysis of 12S-10P permanentmagnet flux switching machine (PMFSM) with field excitation coils (FECs). PMFSM withadditional FECs has several attractive features when compared with conventional permanentmagnet (PM) machines due to its variable flux control capability as well as robust rotorstructure suitable for high torque and high speed applications. However, the original designmachine has a limitation of operating in high current density condition due to nonessentialmagnetic saturation that prevents the machine from extracting the maximum performances. Toovercome this problem, some design refinements are conducted by using deterministicoptimization method to gain a better performance in the maximum torque and powerproduction. The results simulated by 2D finite element analysis (FEA) show that the improveddesign machine has increased the maximum torque by approximately 11.6%, when comparedwith the original design.
