摘要:The industry today is working intensively on a goal-oriented way towards introducing regular studies inmanufacturing. The current study is part of a large overall spanning project aiming towards an increase inproductivity, i.e. more products produced per year with availability. In this paper we have analyze whatProcess Capability is and how it is implemented on a current process. All the steps are listed out in an easyto understand manner. In current scenario, specifications for products have been tightened due toperformance competition in market. Statistical tools like control charts, process capability analysis andcause and effect diagram ensure that processes are fit for company specifications while reduce the processvariation and improve product quality characteristic. Process capability indices (PCIs) are used in themanufacturing process to provide numerical measures on whether a process is capable of producing itemswithin the predetermined limits. For the analysis purpose MINITAB 16.0 is used and is found that theprocess is placed exactly at the centre of the control limits. Analysis also shows that process is notadequate. The cause and effect diagram is prepared to found out the root cause of variation in diameter ofwork. In this study, a process-capability analysis was also carried out in a medium-sized company thatproduces machine and spare parts.
