摘要：In this article, I present the results of a qualitative research study of the everyday life of a group of middle class households in Cali, Colombia. This paper is based on a research project that proposed to relate two seemingly unrelated aspects: the uncertainty, expressed in the positional restlessness, that characterizes the condition of the middle class in the country and the centrality that digital leisure has in the routines of the homes studied. It was found that frequent renewal of technologies and intense digital leisure is a common practice among these households. These are markers of class distinction, mechanisms of control over the present and ways of compensating. Interviewees, eagerly aim to expand their conditions of abundance, and the malaise that generates an uncertain future. As a preliminary hypothesis, this text attempts to demonstrate some of the tensions that middle-class individuals experience, as well as some of the compensatory practices or strategies they use to promote and negotiate their own well-being.
