摘要：O presente trabalho apresenta estratégias para a preparação de uma escola deengenharia militar, no caso o Instituto Militar de Engenharia (IME), paraenfrentar os desafios deste século, no contexto da acelerada evoluçãocientífica e tecnológica e de um mundo globalizado. Contemplando o ambienteatual, ele analisa a Revolução Tecnológica, o papel da educação, aspectospsicossociais, econômicos, políticos e militares, e o fenômeno da globalização.Visa, pois, a adaptação da escola ao momento da informação, sintetizado pelocrescimento exponencial da capacidade de realização do homem, mediante acriação de núcleos de pesquisa e projetos para coordenar a execução deatividades interdisciplinares. Neste ambiente, ressalta-se a importância davisão humanística como um atributo do engenheiro da atual Idade doConhecimento. São abordados tópicos relativos às tecnologias militares para ocombate contemporâneo e futuro, à futura ambiência científico-tecnológica e àinovação dual, à preparação de recursos humanos e por fim aos desafios deadaptação para que o IME possa exercer o poder do conhecimento.
其他摘要：This paper presents strategies for preparing a military engineering college, The Military Institute of Engineering (IME), to meet the challenges of this century head on, in a scenario of quick scientific and technological moves of a globalized world. Facing the current environment, it analyzes the Technological Revolution, the role of education, psychosocial, economics, political and military aspects of the globalization phenomenon. It therefore aims at adapting the college to the information momentum, synthesized by the exponential capacity of man’s accomplishment, through the creation of research and projects centers tocoordinate the implementation of interdisciplinary activities. In this environment, the importance of humanistic vision ofthe engineer is highlighted as an attribute of the current Age of Knowledge. There is an approach to topics addressed to militarytechnology in the contemporary and future combat, to the future scientific and technological ambience, to the dual innovation,to the human resources training and finally to the challenges of adaptation so that IME can exercise the power of knowledge.
