摘要：El objetivo del presente estudio es describir la evolución del financiamiento a la innovación en Cuba en los años más recientes, particularizando en la experiencia del Fondo Financiero de Ciencia e Innovación (FONCI). El trabajo parte de un marco teórico donde se describe la racionalidad del financiamiento a la innovación, enfatizando en la necesidad del apoyo público con estos fines, y las particularidades que esto adquiere en Cuba. En un segundo momento, se sintetizan las características más relevantes del financiamiento a la innovación en el país, reflejando su evolución en los años más recientes. A partir de ello, se describe el papel desempeñado por el FONCI en el sistema nacional de innovación cubano; el marco institucional bajo el cual funciona; las operaciones realizadas y los alcances y limitaciones que han acompañado su desempeño / The objective of this study is to describe the evolution of innovation financing in Cuba in recent years, particularizing in the experience of the Science and Innovation Finance Fund (FONCI). The work is based on a theoretical framework that describes the rationality of financing innovation, emphasizing the need for public support for these purposes, and the particularities that this acquires in Cuba. In a second moment, are synthesized the most relevant characteristics of innovation financing in the country, reflecting their evolution in recent years. From this, is described the role played by the FONCI in the Cuban national innovation system; the institutional framework under which it operates; the operations carried out and the scope and limitations that have accompanied its performance.
