摘要：Os estudos desenvolvidos na década de 1980 e 1990 foram alvo de críticas por fazerem predições sobre a fala a partir da escrita (OLIVEIRA, 2005); por extraírem conclusões sobre mudança a partir da comparação entre escrita e fala (CASTRO, 1996); e por não darem tratamento equânime ao Português Brasileiro e ao Português Europeu (CASTRO, 1996). Levando em conta essas críticas, constituiu-se um conjunto de critérios que nortearam a seleção de dados e contribuíram para a interpretação de um fenômeno que vem sendo identifi cado como típico do PB: o uso das preposições [a] e [para] em complementos verbais cliticizáveis. Os resultados obtidos mostram que, embora as críticas sejam pertinentes, os trabalhos da década de 1980 e 1990 constituem base importante para a interpretação de fenômenos linguísticos característicos do Português Brasileiro.
其他摘要：Studies developed in the 1980s and 1990s have been criticized for making predictions about the speech based on the writing (OLIVEIRA, 2005), for drawing conclusions about change from the comparison between writing and speech (CASTRO, 1996), and also for not giving equal treatment to Brazilian Portuguese (BP) and European Portuguese (EP) (CASTRO, 1996). Considering these criticisms, we established a set of criteria that guided the data selection and contributed to the interpretation of a phenomenon that has been identifi ed as typical of BP: the use of prepositions [a] and [para] in cliticizing verb complements. The results show, pertinent criticism notwithstanding, that the studies from the 1980s and 1990s are an important basis for the interpretation of linguistic phenomena characteristic of the Brazilian Portuguese.
