  • 摘要:J.G. Granö (1882–1956) was a Finnish geographerwho created the theory of “pure geography”. Thistheory divided the human perceptual environmentinto the proximity and the landscape, wherebypeople interact directly with objects in the proximitywhile the landscape is perceived mainly throughvision, remaining at a distance. This article reviewsliterature exemplifying the influence of climatechange on the proximity and the landscape, withemphasis on the Finnish context. The theory assistsus to suggest that the direct and indirect influencesdue to climate change will primarily be perceivedin the proximity and the landscape, respectively.Cartographical approach is applied to a globalnetwork of temperature observations to definethe areas of the Earth’s surface with expectablyhomogenous climate change regimes. The outputof this analysis shows the spatial extents of warmingand cooling regions. On global scale, Finland belongsto the area of intensive warming. This makes itrealistic to foresee the anticipated changes in theproximity and the landscape. Mountainous landscapeswill likely experience strongest change. We alsohypothesize that climate change may influence thehuman perceptual environment, albeit to a likelysmaller degree, by influencing the way we perceivethe environment, due to human physiology.
