摘要:This study explored how Finnish forest owners talkabout forest ownership as a discourse. We wantedto identify, which subject positions forest ownersdescribed for themselves. In addition, we wantedto analyse how socially constructed conceptions ofgender and nature were used to give meaning tothese subject positions. Twenty-five forest ownersin southern Finland (Pirkanmaa) were interviewedusing a semi-structured qualitative attitude approach. In this study, four different subject positions offorest ownership emerged: “loggers”, “protectors”,“bystanders” and “political agents”. Loggers weredescribed as typical forest owners, and this positionwas explicitly described as masculine. Loggers andprotectors had different perceptions about humans’relationship to nature. Contrary to the ecofeministliterature, all protectors in the current studywere men. Bystanders’ position was described astypically feminine. The position of a political agentwas described as non-gendered. These results werediscussed in the contexts of the environmentaljustice theory and the ecofeminist philosophy.
