摘要：O artigo se propõe a interpretar e narrar um episódio singular esquecido da história da industrialização fluminense e do “pioneirismo” germânico no Brasil durante a primeira metade do século XX. Analisam-se e contam-se as peripécias da história comandada pelo barão Ludwig Kummer da meteórica construção e declínio de Tipity, monumental fábrica de farinha de mandioca localizada no deserto sanjoanense, interior do Estado do Rio de Janeiro, considerada na época o maior complexo industrial de seu tipo na América Latina. Ao mesmo tempo baseado numa arqueologia visual dos vestígios do empreendimento, discute-se a relação entre o patrimônio industrial e o valor da ruína considerada como fonte de estudo do passado e instrumento de ressignificado do patrimônio. Reflete-se sobre o papel da evidência iconográfica como artefato cultural e regime de visualidade apto para ampliar a leitura e compreensão histórica da dinâmica sociocultural (e estética) das relações de poder e os conflitos inerentes ao ciclo da industrialização fluminense, durante a experiência histórica do Estado Novo no Brasil.
其他摘要：This article in essay form is proposed narrate and interpret one singular episode forgotten of the history of
fluminense industrialization and the germanic pioneering spirit in Brazil during the first half of the twentieth
century. The adventure led by Baron Ludwig Kummer refers to the meteoric construction and decline of
Typity, the monumental manioc flour factory erected in the Desert Sanjoanense located within the State of
Rio de Janeiro, at that time the greater complex of kind in Latin America. At the same time based on a visual
archeology is discussed the relationship between industrial heritage and the value of the ruin as a source
of study of the past and his ability as an instrument of heritage resignification. It reflects on the role of the
iconography evidence as cultural artifact that provides a regime of visuality apt to recognize the historical
comprehensiveness of sociocultural (and aesthetic) relationships and conflicts contained in the fluminense
industrialization cycle during the historical experience of the Estado Novo in Brazil.
