Entroncan con la cultura clásica, muy especialmente con Cicerón, inventor de la palabra latina beneficentia. El autor rastrea también connotaciones de tales expresiones en diversos autores modernos y comenta el alcance de la justicia benéfica, que sobrepasa el limbo de los ideales.
