摘要：Geoffrey Chaucer é considerado, por muitos estudiosos do espaço literário, como o pai da literatura inglesa e do idioma em que ela é escrita. Em seu livro The Canterbury Tales (Os Contos da Cantuária), o autor faz um panorama da sociedade inglesa da baixa Idade Média e, dentre os contos que constituem o texto, está o “Conto do Magistrado” o qual pode ser considerado, por sua estrutura, uma hagiografia aos moldes da Legenda Áurea, de Jacopo de Varazze. Esse artigo foi desenvolvido tendo como objetivo principal comparar a santificação da personagem Constância, de Chaucer, com três santas presentes na hagiografia: Santa Cecília, Santa Ágata e Santa Anastásia, que são apresentadas na Legenda Áurea. Foram personagens presentes na hagiografia de Jacopo de Varazze e comparadas com a vida difícil de Constância em o “Conto do Magistrado”.
其他摘要：Geoffrey Chaucer is considered by many scholars of literary space, as the father of English literature and language in which it is written. In his book The Canterbury Tales, the author makes an overview of the downtown English society Middle Ages and among the tales that make up the text, is the "The Man of Law’s tale" which can be considered, in structure, hagiography to mold the Golden Legend of Jacopo of Varazze. This article was developed with the main objective to compare the sanctification of Constance character, Chaucer, with three saints present in hagiography: St. Cecilia, St. Agatha and St. Anastasia, which are presented in the Golden Legend. What were characters present in the hagiography of Jacopo of Varazze and compared with the difficult life of Constance in the "The Man of Law’s tale."
