摘要：RESUMEN: Este artículo hace referencia a la conferencia dictada por el Dr. Arquitecto Orestes del Castillo del Prado en la Biblioteca Villena, la Habana Vieja, el 19 de mayo de 2015, al conmemorarse ciento veinte años de la caída en combate de José Martí Pérez. Desde su vasta experiencia profesional, el orador comentó las reflexiones del Héroe Nacional sobre dos obras en construcción en Nueva York; el puente de Brooklyn y el ferrocarril elevado de esa ciudad. El artículo hace énfasis en el valor educativo de la actividad y señala lo especial que resultó para todo el auditorio haber podido presenciar a un maestro hablando de otro maestro. Este trabajo sirve también como un merecido homenaje al “profe Orestes”, como lo llaman sus discípulos. ABSTRACT: T This article refers to the lecture given by Dr. Orestes Architect of the Castillo del Prado in the Villena Library, Old Havana, on May 19, 2015, commemorating one hundred and twenty years after the fall in combat of José Martí Pérez. From his vast professional experience, the speaker commented on the reflections of the National Hero on two works under construction in New York; the Brooklyn Bridge and the elevated railroad of that city. The article emphasizes the educational value of the activity and points out how special it was for the entire audience to have been able to witness a teacher talking about another teacher. This work also serves as a well-deserved tribute to “Profe Orestes”, as his disciples call him.
