摘要：Agriculture is comprised of managed ecosystems, which can include forests, rangelands and crops; these managed ecosystems are vital resources, providing a host of economic and societal benefits. However, these systems face a multitude of challenges: from climate change and limited natural resources; to exotic pests and pathogens; to growing global populations and food demands. Responding to these global challenges requires interdisciplinary innovation and strategic planning to maintain production and sustainability while responsibly feeding the future. The U.S. Department of Agriculture and its Research, Education, and Economics, and Forest Service agencies plan to meet these challenges via research programs and initiatives.
