摘要：Los fenómenos relacionados con la violencia tienen radical importancia en la sociedad mexicana. Especialmente, la población juvenil ha sido identificada como protagonista de situaciones relacionadas con la violencia en sus distintas modalidades. Los/las jóvenes constituyen una población heterogénea y múltiple. El género es una condición a partir de la cual configuran maneras de entender y significar las violencias. Bajo esta idea, se realizó una investigación cualitativa sobre género, juventud y violencia en San Luis Potosí (centro-norte). Se aplicaron 10 entrevistas grupales a jóvenes, hombres y mujeres, de diferentes estratos sociales y condición étnica. El estudio exploró sus percepciones, vivencias e interpretaciones de la violencia. Asimismo, se pretende elaborar una disertación teórica respecto a la violencia simbólica y la investigación sobre género y juventudes. Palabras clave Género; jóvenes; violencia. Gender is a condition from which ways are configured in order to understand violence and give it a meaning. From this idea, a qualitative research on gender, youth and violence in San Luis Potosí (state located at the center-north of Mexico) was made. 10 group interviews were applied to young men and women from different social strata and ethnic conditions. The study explored their perceptions, experiences and interpretations about violence. Likewise, it is intended to elaborate a theoretical reflection about symbolic violence and the research about gender and youth. Keywords Gender; youths; violence.
