摘要：Expõe a trajetória da Antropologia no âmbito da Fundação Joaquim Nabuco desde os seus primórdios como instituição de pesquisa no final da década de 1940, justamente quando a antropologia passaria a ser requisitada como instrumento de análise sociocultural. Analisa a gênese do Departamento de Antropologia, destacando a presença e a atuação de René Ribeiro, Estêvão Pinto, Waldemar Valente, Roberto Motta e Danielle Rocha Pitta. Finalmente, chega aos dias atuais quando há um novo cenário institucional organizado em torno de linhas ou áreas temáticas que marca uma nova fase da antropologia e das ciências sociais na instituição. ABSTRACT This is a report on the history of the Anthropology Department within the scope of the Joaquim Nabuco Foundation since its foundation as a research institution in the late 1940s. It was during this timeframe that anthropology became an instrument of socio-cultural analysis. It provides an analysis the genesis of the Department of Anthropology, highlighting the presence and activities of Rene Ribeiro, Stephen Pinto, Valdemar Valente, Roberto Motta and Danielle Rocha Pitta. The report concludes by addressing the current institutional scenario, which is organized around thematic areas or directions, which indicate the institution’s new emphasis on anthropological and social sciences.
