标题:Isabel Morgan and the research group on vaccines at Johns Hopkins University (1940-1960): a model for the analysis of women trajectories in the world of science
摘要:The history of the presence and the characteristics of women in Science and Technology is analyzed by way of case studies: one case is the American researcher Isabel Morgan, who participated actively in the laboratory studies that sought for an efficient vaccine against poliomyelitis. Her contributions were seminal but her scientific career was truncated and other researchers received social acknowledgement. In order to understand the basic roots in Morgan’s life career one has to resort to a broader analysis of women’s history in scientific careers and to the elements that configured a certain vision of the biological nature of women, and the consequences of these facts from the viewpoint of their professional projection.
