摘要：Desde estas líneas, sin tener la certeza de muchas cosas y dudando de muchas otras, se intenta aportar reflexiones sobre la “eterna novedad” que representa el espectro autista y su educación, conscientes de que la tarea no es fácil.En ocasiones, el hecho de haber dedicado cierto tiempo a conocer las características de las personas con TEA y su educación, ha podido generar una actitud de autosuficiencia o de desencanto. Ante esa situación, es necesario no ignorar el punto de partida, la situación actual y, sobre todo, no desistir en el esfuerzo por encontrar respuestas cada vez más acertadas. Para ello, es conveniente hablar más para saber de qué se habla, si se habla de lo mismo y mantener una actitud científica, dudar de muchas cosas y estar dispuestos a renunciar a falsas verdades que parecía que ya se habían adquirido.No debe olvidarse que, a lo largo de la historia del tratamiento del espectro autista, se han ido haciendo muchas conjeturas en relación a las causas del mismo intentando resolver muchas dudas. Dicha situación, a veces, ha generado que no se pudiera empezar a trabajar estando bien orientados.El contenido de este artículo, en definitiva, pretende poner de manifiesto que la mejor manera de dar respuesta a las necesidades de las personas del espectro autista, debe fundamentarse, esencialmente, en saber reconocer la individualidad de cada persona, en valorar su capacidad y su competencia con la finalidad de facilitar su educación y posibilitar su participación en el desarrollo social.
