摘要：Purpose – To tackle the relationship between the regulatory institutional structure of fishing activity in Brazil is related to the theory of public interest proposed by Mike Feintuck. Methodology/approach/design – It proposes a research of the documentary and bibliographic type based, predominantly, on the analysis of legislation, analysis of books, articles and institutional research reports. Through data collection, reading and recordings, it will build convictions of the positive and negative points of the various perspectives proposed by the authors who went deeper into the theme. Findings – There was a visible gap in a specific body on the subject of fishing and an enormous contribution of Public Interest Theory in the context of fishing activity.↓Propósito – Determinar a relação entre a estrutura institucional regulatória da atividade pesqueira no Brasil e a teoria do interesse público proposta por Mike Feintuck. Metodologia/abordagem/design – Propõe-se uma pesquisa do tipo documental e bibliográfica, baseada preponderantemente na análise de legislações, análise de livros, artigos e relatórios institucionais de pesquisa. Através de levantamento de dados, leitura e fichamentos realizados serão construídas convicções dos pontos positivos e negativos das diversas óticas propostas pelos autores que se aprofundaram no tema. Resultados – Percebeu-se uma visível lacuna de um órgão específico sobre o tema da pesca e uma contribuição enorme da Teoria do Interesse Público no contexto da atividade da pesca.
