摘要：Em um estado em que a Literatura dita culta conformou-se com relativo atraso em relação ao restante do país, o modelo estancieiro, as guerras de fronteira determinaram a construção de um modelo mítico: o gaúcho, personagem filtrado pela ótica masculina, urbana e culta. Às mulheres pouco espaço foi concedido; no entanto, Luis Augusto Fischer, em Quatro negros , abre espaço para uma mulher negra, pobre, mãe solteira e, com ela e através dela, reflete sobre a formação e a consolidação da sociedade sulina, destacando o papel, sob certo aspecto, marginal em que o negro tem vivido. In the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul, in which high literature was established much later, the farm model and frontier wars determined the construction of a mythical model: the Gaucho, whose character was filtered by male, urban and educated eye. To women very little space was granted; however, in Quatro negros , Luis Augusto Fischer opens space for a black woman, poor, single mother, and ponders, upon it and through it, about the formation and consolidation of a “sulina” [southern] society, foregrounding in a certain way the marginal role blacks have been living in.
