摘要：Paul Auster e Silviano Santiago transitam por configurações discursivas múltiplas, a saber: literatura, jornalismo (em material de ampla circulação) e cinema (no caso de Auster). Acredita-se que esse movimento concretiza um objetivo amplo, qual seja: atuar politicamente no sentido de mostrar e transformar o tempo e o espaço contemporâneos. Nossa questão central está balizada pela tentativa de identifi car os procedimentos discursivos por meio dos quais se constrói o fake como eixo central, isto, é a mentira como recurso poético e estético. As produções analisadas são Cidade de Vidro, primeira narrativa de A Trilogia de Nova York , de Paul Auster, e O falso mentiroso , de Silviano Santiago. Paul Auster and Silviano Santiago transit through multiple discoursive confi gurations: literature, journalism (in materials of wide circulation) and cinema (Paul Auster). We believe this movement reaches a goal wich is to act politically in a way to expose and change contemporary comprehension of time and space. Our main goal is centered in the attempt to identify the discoursive procedures through wich both of them construct the fake as the main axis of their narratives. Bu this we mean the uses of lying as a poetical and aesthetical mechanism. The books chosen to this study are City of Glass, the first story in Paul Auster´s The Trilogy of New York , and O falso mentiroso , by Silviano Santiago, a brazilian professor and writer.
