摘要：Texts of scientific diffusion play a very important part in the spreading of knowledge beyond specialist and academic environments. A notable example with regard to geography and, more generally, the description of a particular territory, are guides for cultural tourism. In this respect the analysis afforded by El País Valenciano by Joan Fuster (Barcelona, Destino, 1962) provides a clear example of hybridisation between diffusion and essay. This article offers an analysis of three strategies of tex- tualization adopted by the author: the fusion of diverse references, with their origin in texts of culture –often literary–, in the discourse; the determinologization of certain items of the technical vocabulary of art or architecture; and the technique of adapting various references to economics to the friendly format of the essay. _______________________________________________________________________________________ Resumen: Los textos de divulgación científica juegan un papel muy importante en la transmisión del conocimiento más allá de los espacios estrictamente académicos y es- pecializados. Un ejemplo notable referido a la geografía y, en general, a la descripción del territorio, lo constituyen las guías turísticas cultas. En este sentido, resulta perti- nente el análisis de El País Valenciano , de Joan Fuster (Barcelona, Destino, 1962), un caso claro de hibridación entre divulgación y ensayo. En este artículo se analizan tres maniobras de textualización utilizadas por el autor: el engarce de diversas citas, procedentes de escritos de cultura y a menudo literarios, en su discurso; la destermi- nologización de algunos vocablos técnicos del arte o la arquitectura, y la operación de convertir en ensayo ameno ciertas referencias a la economía.
