摘要：GEOTOURISM IN THE AMAZON: a proposal applied to the Limoeiro Cave and its environment, Medicilândia (Pará) GEOTURISMO EN LA AMAZONIA: una propuesta aplicada la Caverna del Limoeiro y su entorno, Medicilâdia (Pará) RESUMO O geoturismo define-se como uma atividade interpretativa que permite aos turistas adquirirem conhecimento e entendimento sobre o patrimônio geológico, o qual tem como foco principal a apreciação estética. Nesse contexto, esta pesquisa apresenta como objetivo uma proposta de geoturismo na Amazônia, tendo como foco central a Caverna do Limoeiro localizada na Amazônia paraense. Trata-se de uma caverna em rochas de arenito da Formação Maecurú, pertencente à Província Espeleológica Altamira-Itaituba, situada na faixa de contato dos domínios geológicos da Bacia Sedimentar do Amazonas e do Embasamento Cristalino do Complexo Xingu. A escolha da Caverna do Limoeiro resultou de sua característica paisagística e formações cársticas com condições propícias à visitação, destacando-se a valorização ambiental e científica como elemento da geodiversidade. Foram indicados potenciais atrativos geoturísticos localizados no entorno da caverna, tais como a Lagoa Azul e a Ponte de Pedra, também pertencentes ao município de Medicilândia. O cenário de visitação turística projetado inclui ainda a cultura da produção de cacau da região Amazônica, além do conjunto natural com a presença da floresta nativa. A metodologia da pesquisa foi baseada na análise geoecológica das paisagens, que possibilitou uma maior articulação entre os diferentes aspectos de formação e funcionamento da paisagem, auxiliando na elaboração de uma proposta de zoneamento ambiental espeleológico da caverna além de uma rota de visitação de seu entorno. ABSTRACT Geotourism is defined as an interpretive activity that allows tourists to acquire knowledge and understanding of the geological heritage, which has as its main focus the aesthetic appreciation. In this context, this research presents as objective a geotourism proposal in the Amazon region, having as central focus the Limoeiro Cave located in the Amazon Pará. This cave is formed by sandstone rocks of the Maecuru Formation, belonging to the Altamira-Itaituba Speleological Province located in the contact range of the geological domains of the Sedimentary Basin of Amazonas and the Crystalline Basement of the Xingu Complex. The choice of the Limoeiro Cave resulted from its characteristic landscape and karstic formations with favorable conditions for visitation, highlighting the environmental and scientific valorization as element of the geodiversity. Others potential geotouristic attractions were indicated around the cave, such as Lagoa Azul and Ponte de Pedra, also belonging to the municipality of Medicilândia. The projected tourist visitation scenario also includes the cocoa production culture of the Amazon region, as well as the natural set of the native forest. The methodology of the research was based on the geoecological analysis of the landscapes, which made possible a greater articulation between the different aspects of formation and operation of the landscape, helping in the elaboration of a proposal of the cave environmental speleological zoning, besides a route of visitation of its surroundings.
