摘要：este artigo propõe uma síntese das discussões acerca da construção da ideia de patrimônio. Buscando entender de que maneira seus desdobramentos levaram a discursos mais sofisticados sobre educação patrimonial e como isso se refletiu no Brasil durante a formação do SPHAN (Serviço do Patrimônio Histórico e Artístico Nacional) nas primeiras décadas do século XX.
