Abstract: T he understanding that the development of identity is associated with memory makes possible the realization of the construction of identity that happens parallel to time. This way it's possible to think of the experiences that create the memory as a series of symbolic inscriptions in the body, understood from a psychoanalytic and social point of view, without disregarding the neuroscientific aspects of recording memories. A literature review was done on the topic in an attempt to highlight the bodily aspect of experience and the linguistic sharing of memories in the forming of identity in society. The objective of this was to find an approximation of the relationship that contemporary Western society has established with the time and the place of the elderly in society.
