Abstract: The use and management of natural resources by prehistoric human groups resulted in a range of materials and scenarios that reveal partly their daily lives. This article aims to present the results of studies developed in the project "Between Rivers Archaeology: From the Urussanga to Mampituba", by the Universidade do Extremo Sul Catarinense Archaeology and Territory Integrate Management Research Group, as a way to understand how would have been the interaction between the pre-historic groups lived on their settlement spaces. The study area covers a polygon of 4800 km 2 (80 x 60 km), located in the south of Santa Catarina between the rivers Urussanga and Mampituba and between the Atlantic Ocean and the eastern slopes plateau. The data were obtained from literature sources, the database CNSA/IPHAN and field research. We recorded 117 prehistoric sites of which 44 are associated with hunter-gatherer groups, 16 Sambaqui groups, 52 ceramic potters groups, four rock art sites and a rock shelter associated with burial. The results allowed us to infer, from a regional perspective, what prehistoric groups occupied the region, as well as its cultural adaptations to pale landscapes, their origins, migrations and the interactions between them.
