摘要：RESUMEN: El presente artículo se centra en el estudio de la figura de Vigilancio, cuya actuación y posiciones ideológicas y espirituales pueden rastrearse en las referencias que proporciona Jerónimo. Para poder comprender su trascendencia histórica es necesario tener en cuenta el contexto contra el que se expresa Vigilando: son los primeros momentos del culto a los mártires y a los santos en general, y partiendo de las claves de este fenómeno podemos estudiar una manifestación contraria (Vigilancio). ABSTRACT: This paper is centred on the study of the Vigilantius' role, whose activity and ideologic and spiritual positions can be tracked in references that Hieronymus provides. For understanding his historical importance it is necessary to take into account the context against what Vigilantius says: these are the first moments of the cult of the martyrs and saints, and starting from the keys of this phenomenon we can study an opposed manifestation (Vigilantius).
