摘要：Investiga as relações entre memória, cidade e bibliofilia mediante revisão de literatura e sob o ponto de vista dos autores estudados. Trata também dos lugares de memória, apresentando a cidade como lugar de memória, vislumbrando a construção da identidade dos sujeitos a partir do que é dado a ler e a ver em seu patrimônio literário. Traz, por fim, a possibilidade da memória dos lugares através dos livros, mediante registros de memórias orais e em livros de ficção, vislumbrando a literatura como meio de retratar um contexto social, época e tempo. Apresenta conceitos de bibliofilia, de sua possível origem e as diferentes conotações que o termo carregou ao longo dos séculos, assim como breve histórico da bibliofilia no Brasil. Os resultados deste estudo apontam que o bibliófilo possui relação com a memória como colecionador de livros e estudioso de sua história, cujo papel é essencial na constituição de acervos raros e memorialísticos.

the city as a place of memory, viewing the

through what is read and seen in their literary
patrimony. In the end approaches the possibility
of a memory from places through books and oral
registers and also in fiction, using literature as a
way to portray a social context, era and time.
Presents the concepts of bibliophilia and its
possible origins and the different conotations
that the term has carried throughout the
centuries, as well as a brief history of bibliophilia
in Brazil. The results of this study show that the
bibliophile has a relation with memory as a book
collector and student of its history, whose role is
essential in the formation of rare and
memorialistic collections.
