摘要：Este artigo analisa a representação social do profissional bibliotecário e o seu protagonismo na literatura de ficção, identificando uma possível diferença e/ou semelhança na representação deste profissional a partir dos gêneros masculino e feminino. Com isso, caracteriza-se como uma pesquisa documental, com nível de investigação exploratório. Como técnica de coleta de dados, utilizou-se fichas de leitura a fim de identificar os conceitos psicossociais formadores das representações sociais, verificando a existência de uma constante entre as representações literárias do profissional bibliotecário, bem como as representações que caracterizam o profissional dos gêneros feminino masculino, observando se prevalece a existência de um estereótipo nestas representações. Os resultados deste estudo indicam que o profissional bibliotecário vem ganhando espaço na literatura. Sua evolução na literatura de ficção acompanha as mudanças do séc. XXI, especialmente a representação do profissional do gênero feminino. Conclui-se que o profissional bibliotecário assume características que atendem ao universo de fantasia. Contudo, ainda perseverando o rótulo de que na Biblioteca é lugar de silêncio, mas que está sempre disposta a auxiliar o usuário na busca por informação.

the professional librarian and its protagonism in
the literature of fiction, identifying a possible
difference and / or similarity in the
representation of this professional from the masculine and feminine genres. With this, it is
characterized as a documentary research, with
level of exploratory investigation. As data
collection technique, readers were used to
identify the psychosocial concepts that form the
social representations, verifying the existence of
a constant between the literary representations
of the professional librarian, as well as the
representations that characterize the
professional of the feminine genres masculine,
observing if the existence of a stereotype
prevails in these representations. The results of
this study indicate that the professional librarian
has been gaining space in the literature. Its
evolution in the literature of fiction follows the
changes of the century. XXI, especially the
representation of the female professional. It is
concluded that the professional librarian
assumes characteristics that meet the fantasy
universe. However, still persevering the label
that in the Library is a place of silence, but that is
always willing to assist the user in the search for
information.
