摘要：Mentoring Academic Writing.This article reports on a self-reflective narrative study within the context of Indonesian academia.This reflective undertaking encompasses two domains shaping my narratives: 1) conceptual understanding on academic discourse gatekeeping, and 2) identification of some issues around the practice of academic writing, which directly or indirectly connects to thesis advisement and examination.These two areas in turn warrant the presentation of comparative points for the purpose of self-critique in view of shared reflections on academic practices for further productive dialogues.Despite the fact that some points sound somewhat prescriptive, the main view in this piece of writing is that there is no one-fits-all regulation in writing.Therefore, the historicity of this writing needs attending to in reading the reflective points presented in this writing in order to allow for empowering mentoring practices in view of publication.
