摘要:Citizens of the future, who live in knowledge-based society, need not only hard skills but also soft skills and appropriate character in order to achieve a successful life. This article reports an ethnographic study carried out at the State Islamic Primary School I ( Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri I ), Malang, East Java. Indonesia. The study is focused on investigating the kind of instructional processes that contribute to the improvement of students' interpersonal skills. The main focus is specified into some sub-focuses which include 1) forms of instructional activities which affect the improvement of the students' interpersonal skills, 2) reasons that induce a teacher to choose a particular course of instructional action which instigates the improvement of the students' interpersonal skills, 3) supporting factors in the management of instructional activities that contribute to the improvement of the students interpersonal skills, and 4) obstacles which hinder the acquisition of interpersonal skills.
