摘要：Confronté à l’inflation des interprétations et gloses diverses à l’endroit des humanités dites numériques ( Digital Humanities, Humanidades digitales, Digital Studies ), l’historien s’intéressant un tant soit peu au numérique ne peut que constater qu’après la liberté et l’innovation grisantes des premiers temps, les humanités numériques semblent avoir atteint leur étiage aussi bien du point de vue des positionnements scientifiques que des réalisations numériques de type institutionnel. Dans le cas français, le projet de Loi pour une République numérique (2016) a certes valeur de reconnaissance, mais aussi de délimitation du champ des possibles, comme des stratégies à mettre en œuvre en vue du libre accès aux publications scientifiques (dans son article 30). Au-delà des discours visant à constituer les humanités numériques en discipline et des mosaïques d’expériences réunies dans de nombreux ouvrages collectifs, ces dernières demeurent en effet un outil pour l’historien, à la fois exceptionnel de par les possibilités de diffusion et d’analyse offertes, et évolutif à l’instar du media qui les inspire. Le terme permet en ce sens de « décrire la mobilisation d’instruments, d’outils, de paradigmes ou de corpus numériques en sciences humaines et sociales ». Cette caractéristique apparaît clairement dans le programme de la conférence Digital Humanities 2017 qui s’est tenue à Montréal en août 2017 sur le thème « Access/Accès » 1 .
