摘要：Tras ser destruida su flotilla de buques en Soto la Marina (Nuevo Santander) el 18 de mayo por la fragata realista Sabina, a Javier Mina se le cerró la posibilidad de huir por mar desde este punto si era cercado por las fuerzas realistas que, lenta pero progresivamente, estaba concentrando el general realista Joaquín de Arredondo. Mina planteó entonces mantenerse en una zona indefinida del Nuevo Santander, en un triángulo geográfico delimitado por San Fernando, Croix y Soto la Marina, moviendo continuamente sus partidas dentro del mismo, al más puro estilo guerrillero, en espera de ver cual sería la mejor dirección a tomar. Allí esperaba ver qué apoyos podía recibir tanto de la población local del Nuevo Santander, como de las partidas insurgentes que quedaban en el interior de la Nueva España, y como de aquellas que podrían reunirse en el norte de Nuevo León y sur de Texas. Finalmente, se dirigió al interior tras bloquearle el paso el general Arredondo.
其他摘要：With the destruction of his flotilla at Soto la Marina (New Santander) by the royalist frigate Sabina on 18 May, Javier Mina realised that he could not escape from there by sea if he should be surrounded by the forces that royalist general Joaquín de Arredondo was slowly but surely assembling.. Mina therefore decided to remain in an area of New Santander roughly defined by a triangle drawn between San Fernando, Croix and Soto la Marina, keeping his forces in constant movement there, guerilla-fashion, until he decided the best direction to take. There he waited to see what support might be forthcoming from the local populace of New Santander, from insurgent groups remaining in the interior of New Spain and from any that might assemble in the north of New Leon and the south of Texas. Finally he moved inland when general Arredondo blocked any other route.
