摘要：A redução do número de membros das famílias vem alterando não só o perfil da sociedade, mas a maneira como pais e filhos pensam e sentem a questão da irmandade. A amizade com iguais, por sua vez, parece ser importante para que os filhos únicos experimentem situações das quais são privados pela falta de irmãos. O objetivo desse estudo foi investigar as representações que filhos únicos têm sobre os conceitos de amizade e de irmandade. Participaram dessa pesquisa seis crianças de nove e 10 anos, filhos únicos. O instrumento utilizado foi um roteiro de entrevista contendo 14 questões acerca das concepções de irmandade e de amizade, e sobre possíveis relações entre amizade e irmandade. Os resultados parecem indicar que os participantes desejam ter tanto irmãos quanto amigos, atribuindo funções distintas a ambos, sem, contudo, percebem claramente as características e funcionalidades próprias que diferenciam amizades e irmandades.
其他摘要：The reduction in the number of members in one family is altering not only the profile of society, but is altering the way that parents and children think and fell about brotherhood. Friendship with equals, in itself, seems to be important so that only children experience situations in which they are deprived of having brothers. This study investigates the representation that only children have as to the concepts of friendship and brotherhood. Six only children between 9 and 10 years of age participated in the research. The instrument used was an interview with 14 questions about the conception of friendship and brotherhood, and the possible relations between friendship and brotherhood. The results seem to indicate that the participants would like to have both siblings and friends, assigning distinct functions for both, without, however, clearly understand the characteristics and features of the friendships and brotherhoods that differentiate themselves.
