摘要：Studies dealing with the issue of geomorphologic and neo–tectonic evolution and characteristics of Çanakkale district,particularly for the Dardanelles environ,had been performed mainly by based on,and/or making use of,scientific studies and papers of Prof.Dr.Oğuz EROL during the long period from 1950s to early 1990s.Unfortunately,it has been seen in the studies made in recent years that the significant scientific contributions of Prof.EROL to the geomorphology of Turkey in general and the Quaternary geomorphology and geology of Çanakkale district were wholly ignored or were not given required importance.Consequently,in this paper,a scientific assessment of his paper entitled "Geomorphologic and Neotectonic Evolution of the Dardanelles Area,NW Türkiye” (Erol,1992) was mainly made in order to introduce very significant scientific contributions of Prof.EROL to Çanakkale district with respect to area of the Earth sciences to new generation.
