摘要：The analysis of Socratic views shows that epistemological and ethical considerations of Socrates not Platonic anthropology lie at the basis of European reflection on man.Socrates introduced the method of dialogue that helps to show the borders of human cognition and at the same time the irresistible need to strive for wisdom,moral knowledge helping to reach for happiness.Socrates’ concept of homo ethicus proves the twofold ontological structure of man belonging to two worlds–the ideal and phenomenal one.It helped to describe the cognitive abilities of man,to lay the basis for skepticism and modern theory–cognitive agnosticism.His philosophical method led not only to the development of the art of philosophy but also to the development of the knowledge of self–cognition.The method used by Plato became interesting for psychoanalysis in the field of cognition of crucial secrets of human soul and body,and the origin and transformation of culture.For that reason it can be also accepted that–paraphrasing a famous saying of Alfred N.Whitehead about Plato–the history of the Western philosophy is only a series of notes about Socrates.
