摘要：Separation schemes along with Vessel Traffic Services have improved the safety of navigation,particularly within restricted waters.Their role is rather passive and common sense is still required whenever a decision is to be made.It is assumed that it could be beneficial in terms of collision or accident risk reduction once active measures are introduced.The concept raises a wide variety of problems that are to be discussed,defined and solved.
