摘要:The skilled work of the author over the product is no less unique phenomenon than the professional activity of the editor.Trend of the present — giving the author the opportunity to polish his own text, the quality of the work before submitting to the editorial office, working out it as much as possible, turning it, or not privately to editors, philologists, etc.; further improvement (if it is needed), on the advice of the editor, carries out the author himself. The lack of editorial work on the text leads to a low level of publication. In Ukrainian bilingual space, editing is simply necessary. Some authors, ignoring the requirements of a publishing standard or editor’s remarks, reproached the absurdity of editorial edits, prevent editors from refining their texts. Before submitting, an editor proofreads his own work, after professional word processing of material by the editor and based on his edits, an author shall make changes. The trend of today is providing opportunities of personally polishing text to the author. More and more often we can read the phrase ‘published in author’s edition’ in books or magazines. Author’s edition can exist despite the ambiguous attitude to its lawfulness.Author’s edition saves time and money both for the publisher and the author. It is interesting to language scholars, writers, linguists, and others. Among the negative consequences of author’s edition are: low-quality products (linguistic-stylistic, factual, technical mistakes, plagiarism, etc.), deprivation of text optimization, belittling the role of editor. The authors’ works of the past centuries are of interest to historians of language, writers, linguists and other scholars.
