摘要:The aim of this study was to describe the mathematics instruction with realistic mathematics approach can improve students' mathematical problem-solving skills. This study was an experimental study with a control group pretest-postest design. The subjects of this study were students of grade 7 of the two medium-level school selected by purposive technique fom the whole school in Bekasi. Experiment class students followed instruction with realistic mathematics approach,whereas students in the control class with conventional instruction. Instruments of the study were (1) test of mathematics problem solving skills,(2) observation sheet,(3) students' response questionaire and (4) interview guide. Data were analyzed by t-test and ANOVA. The results showed that mathematical problem-solving skills of students who followed the realistic mathematics approach better than students in the conventional instruction,overall or based on category of general mathematics skills (high,medium and low). Improvement of mathematical problem solving skills of students with high general mathematics skills is better than students with medium and low general mathematics skills.
