摘要：The paper deals with a conceptual representation of interrelated notions conscience and conscientiousness in the Russian language and culture that are viewed as interrelated cognitive phenomena reflected in the Russian verbs znat’ – vedat’. Each concept is observed within a set of notions,images and values. Conceptualization of conscience is defined through self-evaluation of actions regarded as required and prescribed;its image is encoded in conceptual and biomorphemic metaphors that establish either moral or utilitarian rules of behavior by pointing to their correlation with an ideal judgment about personal relations. The notion of consciousness is described as meaningful existence,its worldview perception is associated with a container,a mirror or a living being,the value is referred to identification of personality. Conscience and conscientiousness are discourse specific, their moral-and-ethical aspect is discussed in everyday conversations,fiction,religious and mass-media spheres whereas rational-and-philosophical issues are predominantly touched upon in scientific and pedagogical communication. From the perspective of rationality conscience is explained in terms of consciousness,moral awareness,a logical system of concepts viewed as a fragment of the world perception. Contradiction between two concepts under study is characterized in terms of antinomy «Mind::Heart»,it strengthens the inner personality by language conceptualization of conscience and conscientiousness.
